Chapter 13: A Psalm of Embracing Sorrow for Strengthened Faith

A Psalm of Embracing Sorrow for Strengthened Faith

To the Lector: A Psalm of Blake, acknowledging the value of sorrow and its role in deepening faith.

O Lord, my God, in wisdom Solomon declared,

"Sorrow is greater than laughter," a truth laid bare.

Nothing new under the sun, in this world's wide span,

The pain I've known, others too have ran.

Each heartache, each tear, through time's vast corridor,

You've guided others, O God, You've been their oar.

So I praise You, Lord, for the sorrow that deepens my faith,

In the crucible of pain, Your presence is my wraith.

You test me, O Lord, and I strive not to fail,

Turning not to worldly pleasures, nor my intellect frail.

I look to You, O God, in You alone I find my might,

Make me strong, for in my weakness, You are my light.

My thoughts, O Lord, they wage a relentless war,

Defeat them, O God, be my everlasting core.

Though the pain wearies me, its purpose I see,

In its refining fire, a better me to be.

For easy times may weaken, while hardship strengthens the soul,

In the furnace of affliction, You make me whole.

I cling to the hope that lessons learned will bear fruit,

And in times of ease, may I not be mute.

May I never forget You, O Lord, in joy or in trial,

In every season, every mile.

For in sorrow, I find a deeper trust in Your ways,

In Your love, O Lord, my heart stays.

So I thank You, God, for sorrow, for the growth it imparts,

In its shadows, I find the strength of heart.

May my faith be steadfast, in pain or in peace,

In Your hands, O Lord, my soul finds its release. Amen.
